The Festival of Early Music Utrecht is the world’s largest festival dedicated to early music, and for good reason. The passion for timeless music and the artistry behind it shines through in every performance and authentic experience. To highlight the festival’s magnificence and attract new audiences, we developed a fresh brand identity and campaign that reflects the festival in all its facettes.

 

With its annual festival, concerts, lectures, debates, a magazine, workshops, and Early Music Television, the festival communicates across a multitude of platforms. Therefore, we created user-friendly design elements that are flexible and versatile to use. Under the concept ‘Eternal for Today’ we show how early music resonates to this day.

Using windows, stencils and patterns we play with the structure and layers found in music and artistic genres. The various components of the visual identity can be bombastic or more subdued, depending on the context. This past year’s theme, Seville, was interwoven throughout the festival program and communications in numerous creative ways.
